The Department of Zoology is one of the departments established with the founding of the Faculty of Science in Gharyan during the academic year 1992–1993. It initially began as a unit within the Department of Biology, before the Biology Department was divided into two independent academic departments— the Department of Zoology and the Department of Botany —in the academic year 2012–2013.
